Rules & Regulations for the film submission

  • The festival is open to international/Indian filmmakers.
  • Filmmakers may submit as many works as they wish to, as long as they have been produced after January 1, 2018.
  • Entries must be submitted in any language with English subtitles is recommended though.
  • Kolkata Short Film Festival is a yearly based film competition with screening open to all Organization /Agency /Independent /Student/ Producer/Directors.
  • Submission will be accepted by submission partners (ex:filmfreeway.com).
  • Categories of the festival are :

    International 100 seconds Short Films: - All Genre of Indian/ International Short Films with 100 seconds duration with opening and closing credit. More the 100 seconds duration films will be disqualified.

    International Short Films: - All Genre of Indian/ International Short Films with Duration 3 minutes to 30 minutes with opening and closing credit.

    • Best Jury Award

    • Best Director

    • Best DOP

    • Best Screenwriter

    The winner will receive Certificate, Prize, Trophy, T-shirt & Registration kit .
    The nominees will receive Certificate, T-shirt & Registration kit.
    All participants will receive Certificate.
    Depending upon the number of entries for each category and the quality of films submitted, we may also provide Special Mentions.
    Submitter, Applicant agrees with the rules by submitting the film.
  • Our jury screens the monthly selections and also it goes for public screening and from there we select the winners.
  • All submissions are final. No refunds are provided.
  • All genre films will be accepted.
  • Film should be submitted with 1080p format avi/mp4 format (Dig. camera/ mobile).
  • Festival organizers will not be responsible if the film is not screened due film format problem.
  • Festival director reserve the rights to disqualify any film on certain grounds.
  • Each entry will be accompanied by non-refundable fees.
  • The festival authorities will have the right to retain copies of each film and the material send as part of our festival library & can be screened in for Education, promotion, awareness & non-commercial purposes.
  • The decision of jury members will be final and accepted by all no inquiries or arguments will be entertained
  • Agree on the above terms & conditions of KSFPF organizing committee and promise to abide by it.
  • There will be one audience choice award for 100 sec film competetion. [please note: We do not provide any TA for the submitter to come and attend the festival. They need to arrange their own travel and accommodation for the same. Certificates are digitally printable which we will email to our all participants. ]
  • Submission has a entry fee but the film has to be submitted via FilmFreeway.
    Fee :
    a. 100 seconds short film
    • Rs. 300/- for Indian

    • $ 10 for International

    b. Short film
    • Rs. 400/- for Indian

    • $ 12 for International

  • The organization reserves the right to screen the submitted works.
  • The organization assumes that participants have the rights to exhibit and promote the works and material presented and disclaims any responsibility for the violation of this rule.
  • Entry in the competition implies acceptance of these rules and the decision by the organization to resolve any incident occurring during any phase of the competition. The jury's choice is final.
  • The film must have English subtitle if done in regional languages.
  • The KSFPF reserves the right to refuse entries.
  • The KSFPF will not refund any fees if the filmmaker fails to submit the film in the correct category.
  • Films submitted without the correct fees or proper submission media may be deemed ineligible at the discretion of the KSFPF programming director or executive director.
  • The festival does not cover any of the expenses incurred by the filmmaker.
    After a film has been an official selection, the filmmaker will be notified, and eventually the film will be listed on the festival website under Official Selections.
  • The Official Selection status doesn't mean that your film will be screened at the festival. It means that you are now eligible for the nomination and you can use the festival logo on your poster.
  • A filmmaker's submission fee will not be reimbursed if they decide to withdraw their submission. All entry fees are non-refundable.
  • We require an official trailer or poster, synopsis and a link to your film. Please select the correct category while submitting to avoid disqualification. We reserve right to re-assign films to the appropriate category.
  • KSFPF may without advance notice amend these Rules & Terms from time to time. Each and every such amendment shall be become effective immediately. It is your responsibility to periodically check for updates of these Rules & Terms.
